The band
Chéri Chéri is a family affair, well, chosen family that is. Formed two years ago on a warm Parisian night, frontwoman Celia Marie Chéri taped an audition poster inspired by School of Rock to a street pole near Notre-Dame, closed her eyes, and whispered a wish to the river Seine. The universe responded above and beyond her wildest expectations, bringing together a supergroup ready to redefine this generation of rock.
All five members are equals in sound and appearance - exuding an electric synergy when performing and recording live that leads the audience wanting more. They’ve become so close that now 3/5th of the band even lives in the same Parisian apartment building - songwriting and shenanigans spill between apartments like an episode of Friends. After writing, rehearsing, and performing night and day over the last year, Chéri Chéri has finally recorded their debut EP in Leeds with producer Gordon Raphael of The Strokes and is ready to share their voice with the world. Their sound recalls the structured riffs of Led Zeppelin, the punk poetry of Patti Smith, and that certain ‘je ne sais quoi’ we could only hope for from a Franco-American band.

The mates

Celia Marie Chéri
' THE LIONIZED FRONTWOMAN '
Born in Chicago and molded in Paris, Celia Marie is a bassist, singer, and visual artist. Picking up the bass as a complete beginner during confinement, she won over Instagram with her infectious, no-fucks-given energy and Amazonian beauty. After playing bass for groups like Oracle Sisters and her band Lick The Star alongside Reni Lane of Razorlight, Celia Marie decided to pick up a microphone and project her unique vision of rock with a new generation.

Valentine Morell
' THE UNPRECEDENTED LEAD GUITARIST '
Rooted in the world of music through the neo-soul guitar loops she started posting on social media back in 2020, Val began working on tracks with Lala &ce, Barny Fletcher, and Anaïs. On top of Chéri Chéri, Valentine is working on her first self-titled solo project —exploring a sound somewhere between neo-soul and R&B— and can be seen on stage with SOKO. We can thank this wide range of genres for her memorable guitar melodies that give Chéri Chéri a voice unprecedented in rock.

Elise Roy
' THE SENSUAL BASSIST '
Born and raised in the Latin quarter, Elise has that effortless class & cool of a true Parisian. Originally the band’s drummer, her inclination towards the bass was impossible to overlook. Her deep tones and mischievous grace are addictive the the eyes and ears. After finishing her music studies at IMEP, she opened for Papooz with Albert Newton on their latest tour in France.

Thomas Lacaze
' RHYTHM GUITA- IS THAT FRANK ZAPPA? '
Since Thomas bought his first LesPaul when he was a teenager, he dreamed of being part of band. Born and raised in the South of France, he took a leap of faith and moved to Paris two years ago to pursue this dream. A few months after his arrival, fate brought him to a music school of the 18th district where he met Celia and Val during a late night jam one night in the school’s stuffy basement. Thomas brings the essential moustache to Chéri Chéri, as well as his meticulously crafted guitar sounds and liquid moves.

Titouan
' THE BROODING DRUMMER '
As the youngest yet wisest member of the band, Titouan’s addition was the missing link. As described by Whitney Houston’s ex drummer Jean Victor de Boer, the soul of his drumming simultaneously evokes the voice of all great drummers from the hay day of rock combined.
